eir Spider Awards 2016

The eir Spider Awards 2016 are coming. Webfactory has been the proud winner of the Best Agency award 5 times so far - in 1999, 2000, 2008, 2009, and 2013 - so we know what a major event this is in the Irish digital industry calendar.

Incredibly, the Spider awards are celebrating 21 years in existence this year, a momentous achievement in the Irish digital industry, which often prizes change above all else.

For us the most meaningful change to the awards structure has been the distinction between small and large agencies. This means that up-and-coming agencies have a real chance to make their mark in the digital world, without having to go up against larger, more established agencies, such as Webfactory.

New eir Spider awards

It’s also great to see a UX Spider award back in the mix of categories. Solid, research-based UX is a key measure of success in digital projects. It’s a reflection of how we work in Webfactory, where UX is tightly integrated into our analytics, SEO and content teams.

A Best in Blogging award has also been announced and we are curious to see which platforms which come to the fore. Some of the best ‘bloggers’ today are writing long-form posts on channels like Instagram, snapping away on Snapchat, or speaking direct to camera. Ireland is a hot bed of content talent so we are keen to see who ends up on the list.

Sponsorship

This year Webfactory is sponsoring the Financial Services category, where we hope to see some fresh new ideas. Seeing Bank of Ireland jump into the digital space recently with Snapchat, it’s safe to say that Irish banks continue to push the envelope of what they can do online. We can only celebrate that and encourage them to continue trying new ideas and technologies to attract consumers.

Good Luck in the Spiders!

As agencies and companies across Ireland prepare their Spider award nomination entries over the next few weeks, we wish everyone the best of luck. We’re looking forward to a fun and exciting night, and can’t wait to see who the various eir Spider Awards 2016 are presented to. Take a look at all the shortlisted nominees on the eir Spiders website.
