2017 Reflection

The Christmas holiday and year end is fast approaching. I think it is safe to say that this has been a very good and eventful year for us all at Webfactory. A lot has happened! To close the year off properly we wanted to take some time to reflect on all we achieved and learned in the past 12 months. It's important to celebrate the various events that have occurred and the many projects that have successfully gone live as a result of the hard work, dedication and effort of all team members at Webfactory.

This blog is a contribution by members of Webfactory team sharing their thoughts and reflections on 2017.

From the big to the small - work to celebrate!

We launched some major digital projects for new clients over the past 12 months. The first stage was to relaunch their digital presence to provide a better experience to their users and deliver on core business goals. We look forward to doing a lot more work for these brands in 2018. We also worked with existing clients to optimise and grow their online presence.

We don’t just work with large website projects. During 2017 we delivered over 100 smaller projects to enhance existing functionality; including accessibility updates, new website sections, deeper integration with social, integration with GIS and Google maps and other backend systems as well as many content, design and visibility enhancements.

Here’s an introduction to some of the work we delivered.

Gas Networks Ireland

Redevelopment of gasnetworks.ie. Our solution incorporated a full redesign, content strategy, integration of a robust CMS and multiple backend integrations. The focus was to deliver a portal to allow prospective GNI customers to apply for a gas connection online, something never previously available.

Sustainable Energy Authority Of Ireland

Complete overhaul and redesign of the SEAI website and digital strategy to produce a beautifully responsive website. Our approach put user requirements front and centre and allowed us to help re-establish their digital reputation and authority. SEAI now have a website that enhances their brand and is a platform that can be used to increase their digital reach.

Science Foundation Ireland

Webfactory was chosen to deliver a publishing platform for SFI which allows them to support STEM research, education, and awareness in Ireland. The project brought three standalone websites into one functionally rich platform. This will streamline SFI's communications work and allow their users to interact with them.

Our Social Media work gets the thumbs up

Xbox Ireland’s Facebook and Twitter were among this year’s finalists at the 2017 Social Media Awards in two categories: the Best Use of Facebook by a Business/Brand (Agency Run) and the Best Twitter Large Biz/Org Account. Although we didn’t scoop the award this time, we were delighted to see our clients shortlisted in the good company of some of the best brands in the country. It was definitely a stamp of approval and the proof that we are on the right track!

Our News Round-Up

Here are some of our news highlights from the past year. Have you been following our blog posts? If not, you are missing out on quite a lot!

We met our new Dept colleagues in Amsterdam

September 2017, the Dept Festival! This trip didn’t disappoint. Colleagues from Dept across Europe and the US met up for the first time. It was a very productive event with team members returning highly motivated and excited regarding work prospects for the coming months ahead. Sinead, our Head of Content, blogged about our trip to Amsterdam to check out the Dept Festival.

Our Code Ninja celebrated 20 years at Webfactory

Our very own Niall Colgan began his career as a code ninja with Webfactory two decades ago. His words of wisdom - “The knowing comes from "getting it wrong, trying again, repeating it until you get it right!”. After all this time Niall is a treasured colleague and held in high regard by everyone within Webfactory. Have a look at the blog post charting his career by Marianne, Operations Director.

That’s all folks!

We are looking forward to winding down for our annual Christmas break. We hope you have an opportunity to do the same.
